The BC Bike Race is back for its tenth year running!
Day two of this world-class competition is hosted in Powell River's very own Millenium Park and Duck Lake trail areas. Cyclists are challenged with 50 km of beautiful cross-country tracks, beginning and concluding at Willingdon Beach Park and Campsite - the perfect place to relax after a hard day's ride!

For many participating performers and audience members, the Powell River Festival of Performing Arts has become one of the brightest calendar days of the entire year.
No matter what kind of performing arts discipline, young and young at heart CAN participate in the Festival and make a unique impact in this performance art cultured community.
An annual rite of spring for many, the Marathon Shuffle takes place on the last Sunday of every April. Hosted by PAWS (Powell River Parks and Wilderness Society), Club Fat Ass, the Powell River Hikers and the BOMB (Bloody Old Men’s Brigade) Squad The Marathon Shuffle is held to to promote the beauty of the Sunshine Coast Trail. The Shuffle is fun, low key “shuffle” (hike or run) on a 29 km section of the Sunshine Coast Trail.
Powell River's New Year's Day Polar Bear Swim is a long-standing tradition, ushering in the new year with a communal plunge into the sea at Willingdon Beach at noon. Join other brave, chilly celebrants and see how long you can withstand the 'freezing' waters!
The Powell River Polar Bear Swim is hosted annually by the Pow! Town Roller Derby League.
The Powell River Food Security Project presents the seventh annual Edible Garden Tour. As always, the tour is free and self-guided.
Ten food-growing gardens of all kinds in the Townsite, Westview and south of town areas will be show-cased this year. In addition to the garden owners themselves, Master Gardeners will be available to answer your questions at selected gardens, and at other sites there will be demonstrations and information available. We will also have our annual Food Literacy Treasure Hunt - visit all the gardens and find the mystery plants, and you can go into the draw for some great prizes.

The International Choral Kathaumixw is a 5 day choral festival filled with concerts, common song singing, choral & vocal solo competitions, conductor’s seminars and social events. The festival is a place where all can learn from each other and from world renowned choral personalities.

Kathaumixw returns in 2018
The Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy (PRISMA) offers a two week program that prepares music students and young professionals for a career in music performance. It is designed to assist students to obtain the necessary tools to win a position in a professional orchestra.
The blackberry is one of BC’s favourite fruits and is set to be celebrated big-time at the Powell River Blackberry Festival, a spectacular jubilee of local colours and flavours guaranteed to put a smile on that dial. Powell River has it all, when it comes to blackberry flavours, wine, cheese, pizza and the most mouth watering desserts this side of the sunshine coast.
Sea Fair is the longest running festival in Powell River, celebrating 52 years in the making! This 3 day festival, taking place July 24, 25, and 26 2015, brings the community together with entertainment, fair rides, games, vendors, fireworks and midway at Willingdon Beach! Sea Fair 2014 was a great success and we thank all the volunteers for helping to make it happen!
Seafair-Festival by the Sea
Held annually in February, the Powell River Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing the finest current releases from international, national and local filmmakers. Screenings are held at various local venues including the Evergreen Theatre and the historic Patricia Theatre. The Film Festival events also include gala events, youth activities and Q&As with select filmmakers.
Annual memberships to The Friends of Film Society may be purchased for $5 at the festival. Our membership list is a vital demonstration of community support for film education and outreach.
The Annual Lund Shellfish Festival will be held along the shores of Lund Harbour, BC, Canada. Come enjoy fresh-cooked seafood, listen to local musicians, take tours, watch free cooking demonstrations, buy live shellfish, shop at the craft booths, enter contests, and sample special menu items at the restaurants - there are activities for everyone and admission is free!

Join us at Palm Beach, Powell River on Labour Day weekend to enjoy music by musical talents.
The 35th Annual Sunshine Music Festival is set to take place during Labour Day Weekend of 2017. The Festival is a celebration of music from across Canada and the world.
Expect to see world class performances in a picturesque setting at Palm Beach Park on the waterfront. Shop at the craft market and enjoy some tasty treats from the many food vendors. Year after year, the festival gets better and better.
