Chris Matheson and his partner Uli Herl landed in Powell River 5 years ago and bought a house after a weekend visit. On the Monday morning visiting, Chris asked his employer if he could work remotely from the community. Now he travels once a month for team meetings while working from his home in the historic Townsite neighbourhood.

Laura Wallace and her husband Allen came to Powell River for the lifestyle and are perfect examples of location not being a big factor when it comes to work. Laura is a Luthier who repairs and builds violins which she sells in Victoria and the Lower Mainland. Allen is an IT specialist that is able to work from anywhere. So they’ve been able to build a life for their family in Powell River that they enjoy immensely.
