Laura Wallace and her husband Allen came to Powell River for the lifestyle and are perfect examples of location not being a big factor when it comes to work. Laura is a Luthier who repairs and builds violins which she sells in Victoria and the Lower Mainland. Allen is an IT specialist that is able to work from anywhere. So they’ve been able to build a life for their family in Powell River that they enjoy immensely.
After an extensive search, Ian and his wife settled on Powell River. They realized what a great place it is for families. A few of the things they enjoy include: going to the recreation complex with their son for swimming lessons, music lessons at the Academy, and an abundance of outdoor activities – all within 5 minutes of driving. Quality of life and diversity of practice – it’s all here.
In the Westview neighbourhood, Mike and Sara Salome, once managers of a trendy Vancouver Restaurant opened Costa Del Sol Cuisine in 2012 – a Latin flavoured and wildly popular restaurant, and then followed it up with a second restaurant Coastal Cookery in 2014.
When Barrie came to Powell River, he wanted a combination of a part-time emergency practice and full-service family practice. He was able to do that here, amongst a collegial group of physicians, and felt really welcomed. He started with a plan to stay one or two years, and as his family grew, he realized that Powell River provided the quality of life they wanted.
