~The BURYING GROUND~ (Vancouver/Gibsons based)
"Across the three releases Woody Forster (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Devora Laye (vocals, washboard, singing saw) have established a sound that, should the fuzz, crackle and hiss of a well-loved 78 RPM record be added, would feel directly transported from the juke joints and speakeasies of the Prohibition era. This is beautifully realised, pure roots music created in the same spirit of contemporaries such as the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, The Crow Quill Night Owls, or fellow Vancouverites, Petunia & the Vipers. And, frankly, I cannot get enough of this wonderful stuff!" -David Morrison, Folk Radio UK

The Burying Ground plays authentically delivered, rustic old-timey country-blues, and swinging, jazz-flecked folk music. The core duo of Devora Laye (washboard, vocals, saw) and Woody Forster (guitar, vocals) are known for songwriting that illuminates the human experience, and reflects the modern day. It is today’s commentary on a framework of vintage music. They have been charming diverse crowds, across all ages and musical tastes, in large and small venues throughout Western Canada, United States, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Ireland. To date, they have released three albums that have all hit radio charts. The duo are accompanied by a rotating cast of masterful backing musicians.

"While they may be devoted to the precious music of a long gone golden era, they still have an awful lot to offer the present and future, as music this good is evidently timeless." -David Morrison, Folk Radio UK

Accompanied by Noah Gotfrit - upright bass (Petunia and the Vipers) & Clara Rose - fiddle, harmonies
