Laura Wallace and her husband Allen came to Powell River for the lifestyle and are perfect examples of location not being a big factor when it comes to work. Laura is a Luthier who repairs and builds violins which she sells in Victoria and the Lower Mainland. Allen is an IT specialist that is able to work from anywhere. So they’ve been able to build a life for their family in Powell River that they enjoy immensely.
Moving from Beijing, a massive cosmopolitan city, Cindy and Harry were worried about how their son would adjust to life in Powell River. Seeing him thrive, in addition to being in a down to Earth community, was proof that Powell River was the right city for them.
It might seem like a myth, but choosing life away from the city can really improve your quality of life, and when Sheena and Elisha moved to Powell River with their families, they traded in long commutes for family time and a community they love.
After an extensive search, Ian and his wife settled on Powell River. They realized what a great place it is for families. A few of the things they enjoy include: going to the recreation complex with their son for swimming lessons, music lessons at the Academy, and an abundance of outdoor activities – all within 5 minutes of driving. When they moved from South Africa to Powell River, Henriette did family practice and maternity and Arend mainly worked in the Emergency Room.
